Dermal Fillers at Ace of Aesthetics Aesthetics

Dermal fillers are designed to restore lost volume, enhance your features and improve facial harmony, creating natural-looking results that still look like you. Made from hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the body, fillers restore hydration, add volume, improve facial contours and smooth certain lines and folds. As a Registered Nurse Prescriber, your safety always comes first, and every treatment begins with a comprehensive consultation and facial assessment. Common treatment areas include the lips, cheeks, chin, jawline, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, smoker’s lines and tear troughs, where clinically appropriate.

Results are visible immediately, with final results usually seen after 2–4 weeks once any swelling has settled. Depending on the area treated and your own metabolism, results typically last between 6 and 18 months. Whether you’re looking for subtle lip enhancement, restoring volume to the cheeks or softening facial lines, I’ll help you decide which approach will best achieve the results you’re hoping for.

Dermal Fillers FAQs

What are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are injectable treatments made from hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the body that helps maintain hydration and volume within the skin. They are used to restore lost volume, improve facial contours and enhance natural features.

When carried out by a qualified medical professional, dermal fillers are a well-established and widely performed treatment. As an NMC-registered nurse prescriber, I carry out a full medical consultation before every treatment and talk you through any rare complications, the signs to watch for and how to contact me in an emergency.

Most clients find treatment very comfortable. A numbing cream can be applied if required, and most fillers contain a local anaesthetic to make treatment as comfortable as possible. If you’re feeling nervous, just let me know and I’ll talk you through every step.

No. My philosophy is always natural enhancement. I work with your facial proportions to create balanced, subtle results rather than an overfilled appearance, so you still look like you, just refreshed.

Usually between 45 and 60 minutes, including your consultation, so there’s plenty of time to talk through your goals without feeling rushed.

Results are visible immediately. You should expect some swelling at first, particularly in the lips, and your final results are usually seen after 2–4 weeks once everything has settled.

It depends on the area treated, the product used and your own metabolism. On average, lips last 6–12 months, cheeks 12–18 months, chin and jawline 12–18 months, and nasolabial and marionette lines 9–12 months.

Swelling varies from person to person. Lip filler generally causes the most swelling, which usually peaks in the first 48 hours before gradually settling. A cold compress can help.

Bruising is possible with any injectable treatment. Some clients have no bruising at all, while others bruise more easily depending on medications, supplements and individual healing. Avoiding alcohol and blood-thinning supplements beforehand can help.

Yes. Most hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase if clinically indicated or in the event of a complication, which is another reason to choose a qualified medical professional.

Most clients choose maintenance treatments every 6–18 months, depending on the area treated and the results they’d like. I’ll always advise you honestly and never recommend more than you need.

It’s best to avoid makeup for 12 hours to reduce the risk of infection, and avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours. Most other daily activities can carry on as normal.

Not necessarily. The aim is for friends and family to notice that you look refreshed and well, not that you’ve had treatment.

Fillers may not be suitable if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active skin infection, are feeling unwell, have certain autoimmune or medical conditions, or are allergic to any ingredients in the product. A full medical consultation will always determine whether treatment is right for you.

Before Your Appointment

To help your dermal filler appointment run smoothly and get the best possible results, please take a moment to read the following advice before your treatment.

  • No need to arrive makeup-free. Your skin will be thoroughly cleansed before treatment, so you can come as you are and relax from the moment you arrive.
  • Please let me know of any changes to your medical history, medications or health since booking, especially any allergies or autoimmune conditions, as these can affect whether fillers are suitable for you.
  • Stay well hydrated in the days before your appointment. Drinking plenty of water supports your skin’s natural hydration and can help your filler settle well after treatment.
  • Where possible, avoid alcohol for 24 hours before your appointment, as this can increase the chance of bruising and swelling.
  • If possible, avoid blood-thinning supplements such as fish oils or certain herbal supplements, and painkillers like aspirin or ibuprofen, unless they’ve been prescribed. Always continue any prescribed medication as advised by your doctor.
  • Ideally, book 2–4 weeks before a special event or holiday. Some swelling and bruising is a normal part of healing, and lip filler in particular can swell for the first 48 hours.
  • If you have an active cold sore or skin infection, are feeling unwell, or have dental treatment or another aesthetic procedure planned, please get in touch before your appointment so I can advise you.
  • Dermal fillers aren’t suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, so treatment won’t be carried out at this time.
  • If you’re unsure which area or treatment would suit you best, I always recommend booking a consultation first, so we can talk through your goals and create a plan together.

Most importantly, I want you to feel relaxed, reassured and in safe hands, knowing every step of your treatment has been carefully explained and tailored to you.

Aftercare Advice

To get the very best from your dermal filler treatment, please follow the aftercare guidance below. It helps your filler settle beautifully and supports healing.

  • Avoid touching, massaging or pressing on the treated area for 24 hours, unless I’ve advised otherwise.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms, hot yoga and other excessive heat for 24 hours.
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours, as it can increase swelling and bruising.
  • Where possible, avoid applying makeup to the treated area for at least 12 hours, to reduce the risk of infection.
  • Stay well hydrated after treatment. Drinking plenty of water supports your skin and helps your filler settle and look its best.
  • Swelling, redness, tenderness, bruising and mild itching are normal and usually improve within a few days. Lips often swell more than other areas, peaking in the first 48 hours.
  • If swelling occurs, apply a cold compress to the area to help ease it.
  • Avoid facial treatments, facial massage and dental treatment for 2 weeks where possible.
  • Keep the treated area clean and follow any individual advice given during your appointment.
  • Results are visible straight away, but your final result is usually seen after 2–4 weeks, once any swelling has settled.
  • If you notice anything unusual, such as severe or increasing pain or changes in skin colour around the treated area, contact me immediately. As a nurse, your safety always comes first.

My aim is to create beautiful, natural-looking enhancements, while making sure you feel supported, informed and looked after long after you leave the clinic.
